What level of education is required to be a dentist?

Becoming a dentist requires roughly seven years of schooling as well as a lifelong commitment to continuing education. This all begins with an undergraduate degree, which is usually in a major that’s heavy in math and science. Prior to graduation, they need to apply to (and be accepted to) one of 67 accredited dental schools. In order to earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS), they need to complete rigorous in-classroom and hands-on training. After three years of this, they will become a licensed dentist. In order to maintain that license, they need to undergo continuing education and advanced training annually.

How much does a dental checkup & cleaning cost in Yukon?

The average price of a dental checkup and cleaning in the U.S. is between $200 and $350. As for the price of your routine visits to our dental office near Yukon, that depends! For example, if you have dental insurance, then there’s a chance that you won’t have to pay anything out of pocket. As always, if you have a question about the cost of your care leading up to your appointment, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

How do I get emergency dental care?

That depends. In most cases, your first call should be to our emergency dentist near Yukon. That way, they can conduct an exam and intervene with the necessary care ASAP. However, there is an important exception: if you are experiencing any potentially life-threatening symptoms. If you are having trouble breathing, you’ve fractured your jaw, your face is extremely swollen, or you can’t seem to swallow, then you should call 911 or head to the ER.

How can I make a same-day appointment with a dentist?

Typically, same-day appointments are reserved for patients who sustained a serious dental injury, like a knocked-out tooth. With that said, there’s no harm in giving us a call to see if we have any available for you to come in, even if it’s for something “simple” like your biannual cleaning. Of course, if you’re interested in scheduling something more extensive, such as a tooth extraction, then we likely won’t be able to complete the entire process that day since it requires more detailed treatment planning.
